Fire Safety in the Home

Relatively few people have been involved in a fire. But, sadly for some, their first experience is often their last. Which is why fire safety in the home is so important.

Scores of people die every year as a result of domestic ‘Fire Safety in the Home’ fires in the UK. Manchester Safety Training aims to cut that figure, reduce the horrific injuries caused and minimise the heartache and pain suffered by families and friends. Our hard-hitting and thought provoking Fire Safety in the Home workshop comes in two one-hour presentations.

Fire Safety in the home - Part one … reduces the likelihood of fires by increasing awareness of dangers in the home. We flag up the main causes of domestic fire, how it burns and how you can prevent it happening.

Fire Safety in the home - Part two discusses smoke alarms, how to fit and test them, what to do in the event of a fire, and how to escape. For smoke is often the real killer. Forget the staged fires in films and TV programmes - when the real thing happens this is what claims lives.

With over 30 years experience in the Fire and Rescue Service Manchester Safety Training shares the reality of fire, its unpredictability, how flames and smoke spread … and evacuation procedures.

Using actual photographs and video footage we provide standard or customised workshops on issues such as firework and bonfire safety … the effects, aftermath and real cost of arson … and the consequences of hoax calls. We explain how emergency services react, the resources and manpower involved, and how offenders are punished.
